After a year of voting to elect the President and Members of Parliament, Ghanaians have expressed different opinions on the performance of the government so far.
Ghanaians on 7th December 2020 went to the polls and voted for President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party to stay in power for the second time after the 2016 victory.
Speaking randomly to some Ghanaians, some expressed disappointment in the Akufo-Addo led government for failing to deal with the many promises made prior to the 2020 general elections.
They spoke about the high rate of unemployment, the introduction of taxes; that is the e-levy, corruption perception as well as other initiatives by the government which according to them has affected the livelihood of the ordinary people.
Some were also of the view that the current government has failed to heed to the plight of many Ghanaians as against the party’s earlier promise to be the government for the people, thereby taking harsh decisions that negatively affect the economy.
However, others commended the Akufo-Addo led government for initiating many policies to help turn around the country’s economy despite the COVID 19 impact globally.
“The NPP has done enough since last year elections and I think we must give President Akufo-Addo a little more time to do more. He has 4 years to be in power and I am optimistic 2024 will speak for itself” a businessman stressed.
Also, some appealed to the government to consider comments from the 2022 budget statement and act accordingly in the interest of all Ghanaians.
