Former Black Stars B skipper Isaac Twum believes the senior national soccer team, the Black Stars stand a chance of annexing the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Ghana has come close to ending the trophy drought in the last decade, 2010 Angola losing to Egypt in the finals and in 2015 Equatorial Guinea- Gabon as the Stars lost to Ivory Coast on a penalty shootout.
The 2021 AFCON has been slated for January 9 to February 6, 2022, as 24 countries battle it out for the ultimate.
In an interview with Koforidua-based Aben FM, Twum, who currently plies his trade in Norway for Mjøndalen said he is confident the Black Stars can win the trophy that has eluded the nation for so many years.
“I watched Andre Ayew’s powerful message to his teammates after Ethiopia draw and this tells you how determined they are to win something for the nation. Over the years, the team have tried all means to win the AFCON title, yet it has not happened. I believe this time around they are poised to do something for the nation”
“I believe in the team; we will see an improved team before the start of the tournament. So can Ghana stand a chance” he said.
