Ghana has recorded seven new COVID-19 related deaths as of 7th January, bringing a number of deaths to 23 in 2022 and 1,332 since March 2020.
Ghana Health Service report indicated that 39 patients are in severe and nine in critical condition.
Active Cases as of 5th January 2022 was 13,007, but the 7th January Report indicates that 11,403 people currently have Covid-19 and the test conducted so far is 2, 168,003, but only 152,243 cases were positive representing 7.0% of the positivity rate.
As of January 05, 2022, Ghana had administered over 8.84 million doses of the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine, increasing by more than double since the previous month.
On December 23, 2021, the country obtained over 3.5 million doses of the vaccine. Ghana was also the first African economy to receive vaccination doses from the COVAX Facility. Overall, the number of COVID-19 cases in the country continued to rise.
