The Director in charge of Rural Fires, Deputy Chief Fire Officer (DCFO), James Owusu-Agyei has appealed to corporate bodies, well-meaning Ghanaians and organisations to support the course of Ghana Fire Service with needed logistics such as pick-up vehicles, cutlasses, wellington boots and overalls to train more Fire Volunteers Nationwide in our farming communities to help curb the menace of bush fires.
He made the call on Accra based XYZ TV to educate the masses on Bushfire Prevention.
He said that Fire Volunteers play key roles in ensuring that the natural vegetation, farmlands and plantations are not wasted by undesired fires, especially during the dry season.
DCFO Owusu-Agyei said even though the government supports the Service in this light, it is not adequate to keep these Fire Volunteers motivated all year round to keep giving off their best.
The Director of Rural Fires also advised the general public to value their lives by not getting closer to any potential fire and explosion scene for the purpose of taking pictures and videos.
