Former Ghana international Dan Quaye has suggested the Ghana Football Association appoint former Brighton boss Chris Hughton as the next Black Stars coach with Otto Addo serving as his assistant.
Ghana is without a coach following the sacking of Serbian gaffer Milovan Rajevac after the four-time African Champions poor showing at the just ended 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The West African powerhouse exited the tournament from the group stage following a poor run of results including losses to Morocco (1-0); Comoros (3-2) and a 1-1 draw with Gabon.
The Ghana FA are searching for a new coach and reports in the local media claims Chris Hughton and Otto Addo are leading the race for the job.
In an interview with Sylvester Ntim of Koforidua-based Bryt FM, the former Hearts of Oak star called on the domestic football governing body to appoint the former Brighton and Norwich City manager as the new Black Stars coach with Otto Addo serving as his deputy.
“I will be happy if the FA appoint Chris Hughton and Otto Addo to lead the Black Stars. Hughton has coached clubs in England and has a lot of experience, so if Otto Addo will understand, they should appoint Hughton as the head coach with Otto Addo as his assistant”
“I believe with Hughton there will be discipline in the Black Stars. I know German coaches because I worked under CK Akonnor but to me, I will prefer Hughton as the next Black Stars coach with support from Otto Addo” he said.
The Ghana FA will in the coming days appoint a new coach for the Black Stars.
