The NADMO team has visited Sapeliga in the Bawku West Municipality to monitor water levels at the confluence of the Red and White Volta Rivers ahead of the planned spillage of the Bagre Dam by SONABEL on August 28, 2026.
The exercise forms part of ongoing monitoring and preparedness efforts to assess the situation on the ground and provide early warnings to communities that may be at risk.
Team Lead, Colonel Lawrence Ahlie, also engaged members of the Disaster Volunteer Group stationed at the confluence. He encouraged the volunteers to ensure that residents who cross the water bodies to access their farms always wear the life jackets provided by NADMO.
He emphasized that protecting lives must remain the core priority of the volunteers, particularly as water levels rise, and urged them to remain vigilant and continue educating residents on safe practices.
Colonel Ahlie reminded the volunteers that their work contributes directly to NADMO’s vision of building a disaster-free Ghana.
