As part of the Chocolate Day celebration by Ghana COCOBOD, a day orientation has been given to over 700 pupils of Dabaa Basic Schools in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti region.
In her inaugural speech, Nana Adwoa Dokuaa( Board Member of COCOBOD) attributed the significance of chocolate which is obtained from Cocoa saying, Former President J.A. Kufour through late Hon Jake Obtshebi Lamptey (Former Minister of Tourism) thought it prudent and imperative to change the Valentine’s Day which is marked on every 14th February to a Chocolate day to promote the Cocoa been produced in the country to boost global awareness of comparative advantage of Cocoa exportation and recognition.
She advised pupils to eat chocolate to broaden their scope of mind and knowledge.
Nana Dokua also appreciated the support and innovative ideas by H.E. President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo’s government as COCOBOD is on course to help the country development and empower pupils to learn hard.
All the 700 pupils at Dabaa Basic Schools were given chocolate as part of the Chocolate Day Celebration by COCOBOD.
Mr Osei Ampofo, Senior Public Affairs Officer at COCOBOD explained the importance of the Chocolate Day Celebration as they collaborate with Ghana Tourism Board to sensitise the public on the usage of chocolate and hence the celebration.
Some of the beneficiaries pupils of Dabaa Basic Schools speaking on the orientation and the gifts hailed government and COCOBOD for the gesture, saying it is historic and pledge advice their parents to gets chocolates for them to open their minds to learn hard.
