The government of Ghana in pursuance of its desire to continuously promote press freedom and the safety of journalists work in collaboration with the National Media Commission to deepen the execution of the coordinated mechanism for the safety of media practitioners.
The government has also stated its readiness to collaborate with stakeholders in the fight against disinformation and the spread of fake news.
Ghana was ranked 60th in the Reporters Without Borders (RSF) Report on Press Freedom in countries across the country which has generated a lot of debate on the country’s low performance.
In a statement signed by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, it added government welcomes the RSF Report as a baseline reference document against which freedom in Ghana may be gauged in the coming years.
