The newly elected Omanhene for the New Juaben traditional area is expected to be outdoors on Thursday, June 2, 2022.
The official announcement will be made during the Sunday Akwasidae at the Yiadom Hwedie Palace in Koforidua.
The nominated candidate who is based in Germany (name withheld) was unanimously elected by the royal family and presented to the Kingmakers who have accepted the nomination.
Meanwhile, Gabby Asare Okyere Darko, a key member of New Juaben and also a top member of the government wrote on Friday, May 20, 2022, after hosting the royals in his residence that “New Juaben Omanhene and Ohemaa were both sent off to their ancestral home Monday, after a well-organised and well-attended three-day funeral rites, graced by the President, Vice President and the Asantehene”.
Gabby Okyere Darko continued that, the next step is for (Old) Juaben Omanhene, Daasebre Otuo Siriboe, to install the successor Omanhene of New Juaben, who will, later on, swear in the next Queenmother
Last weekend, Nana Adjoa and I had the regal privilege of hosting the Adehye (royals) of New Juaben, including Nana Tupen and his siblings, for breakfast at home in the hometown, Koforidua.
It was, indeed, most pleasing to see potential rivals (majority from the same womb) breaking bread, embracing and speaking freely and maturely about the succession. Whoever is finally chosen, by him they all pledged to be supportive and loyal. Also in attendance was my brother from Manhyia, Atta Poku”
Gabby Asare Okyere Darko stated further, “What the people of Juaben want and what is being promised by Daasebre, (the wise Chairman of the Council of State), who, under the circumstances, holds the ultimate responsibility of selecting the next New Juaben Omanhene, is a smooth transition; one that commands the natural allegiance, warmth and blessings of the people of New Juaben. A leader, behind whom the chiefs and people of New Juaben can unite and look to the future with hope and collective commitment to the peace and progress of New Juaben”.
