The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly joined other MMDAs across the country to spearhead the Greening Ghana project on Friday, 10th June, 2022 at Asokore, a suburb of Koforidua.
The ceremony which occured across the country is aimed at ensuring Ghana returns to its previous era where trees were mostly seen at vantage points.
The Member of Parliament for the area, Nana Adjei Boateng in his remarks emphasised on the need to invest in tree planting as a way of dealing with the global current climate change to avert future effects on livelihood.
He, however, urged Ghanaians to support the Government’s agenda by partaking in the exercise and also ensuring trees planted are well taken care of.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Madam Comfort Asante was grateful to the Asokore traditional council and the people in the district for their support in making the program a success.
She stressed the need for all Ghanaians to join in the exercise as it would go a long way to deal with the many challenges climate change has brought on the global world.
She assured the Assembly in collaboration with other stakeholders will see to the survival of the trees planted to yield its beneficial purpose.
Meanwhile, the Deputy District Forestry Manager, Joseh Osei Sakyi charged the public to visit offices of the Forestry Commission’s outfit to request for seedlings to in their communities and environment as it comes with no cost.
