Traditionally, each Adae is preceded by Dapaa, therefore today Saturday, a day before Akwasidae is Memeneda Dapaa.
Akwasidae is a traditional meeting with Ɔmanhene or chief of a town (Krowura) with his subchiefs on 6 weeks, (42 days) periodic intervals.
It is a day the ancestors are remembered and are fed with wine and mashed yam, “Ɛtɔ” and blessings and guidance are sought from them in Nkonnwafieso with a libation. This is an early morning ritual before the meeting.
In the meeting, nananom discusses developmental issues, rendering of accountability, making or amending of traditional laws, and any other issues are also addressed for a solution.
It is also a time when natives of the land who are away from home come home to introduce themselves, making gifts to the palace in paying homage to their Overlord.
The most common color for Akwasidae is white.
This traditional sacred day will be observed by all palaces in Akandom nationwide, even in La Côté D’Ivoire.
