Deputy Minister of Energy in Charge of petroleum, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam launched the commencement of the construction of a 2-story dormitory block being funded by GETFUND and a 4-unit workshop block with funding from RigWorld Services Ltd, at the new Nyong Technical and Vocational Institute, one of my major educational Initiatives.
A 6-unit classroom block funded by GNPC on the same site is near completion.
It is the expectation that once these projects are completed, we will usher in the first Technical and Vocational Institute in Karaga to provide the requisite skills for the youth and help create sustainable jobs.
Also significant is the pledge by RigWorld to select the 10 best graduating students from the Technical Institute every year for further training in its oil and gas training centres in Takoradi and Accra, to provide them with opportunities in the oil and gas industry.
The people of Karaga are grateful to President Akufo-Addo, GNPC and RigWorld Services Boss Mr Kofi Abban.
This follows the commencement recently of another dormitory block at the new Pisihigu SHS being built by Ghana Gas, where a 12-unit 2-story classroom block has already been built by the same company. Many thanks to Ghana Gas.
“Education continues to be my priority to support the development of Karaga. I am happy that these two new schools the Deputy minister promised the people of Karaga will come to consolidate efforts by the Government, the chiefs and the people to develop the human capital base of the area” Dr Mohammed Amin Adam.
The Deputy Minister also commissioned two projects, that is; a fully furnished Maternity Block at the Karaga District Hospital built with funding from the Northern Development Authority; as well as one of the mechanized boreholes he built in Nyong.
Finally, he inspected two other important ongoing projects he is providing in the constituency- a Police Post (95% completed) at Yemo Karaga; and a 1,000 seater capacity Community Center (20% complete) in Karaga town.
The Deputy minister was accompanied by the Hon. Iddrisu Mohammed Saani, DCE for Karaga, the NPP Regional Treasurer, Aganda, and my Constituency Chairman and other executives; and Millicent from RigWorld.
