Members of the Ghana National Fire Service Council on Friday, October 21, 2022, paid a working visit to the Fire Academy and Training School (FATS) and the Greater Accra Regional Fire Command to familiarize and interact with Personnel.
The Council also took the opportunity to inspect some ongoing infrastructure projects that were facilitated and initiated by the Council which include Classrooms, Dormitories and Dinning hall blocks which are at advanced levels of completion.
The Commandant of the Fire Academy and Training School, ACFO I Gilbert Klutse was grateful to the Council for the significant developmental projects being undertaken at the School. He pledged his support and that of his Instructors in providing requisite knowledge and skills for all Personnel on training.
The Regional Fire Commander of the Accra Regional Fire Command, DCFO Alhaji Richard Nuhu Gibril in his welcome address stated that the Region Recorded a total of 958 Fires and other emergencies within the first half of the year, 2022 of which 249 were extinguished by the public before the arrival of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
He attributed this to the fact that the Region’s intensified Fire safety education is gradually yielding the desired results. He commended Personnel under his command for their unflinching support in achieving this feat.
The Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Julius A. Kuunuor in his remarks recounted the many achievements of the relatively young Fire Service Council which cuts across employee promotions, health, welfare and expansion of infrastructure at the Fire Academy and Training School as well as in the other Regions. He encouraged Personnel to continue to work hard for the success of the Organization.
The Council Chairman, Hon. Kwame Anyimadu Antwi who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem Central Constituency commended the Chief Fire Officer and his Management for their efforts at Managing undesired Fires in the Country. He admonished both Serving Officers and those in training now to lend their support to the Council and the Chief Fire Officer and uphold the highest level of discipline so as improve upon the image of the Service.
Members of the Council also received and addressed suggestions and concerns of the Personnel which contributed to the overall success of the working visit.
