The NCCE had an interactive and insightful discussion with the Ahmadiya Muslim Mission when the Chairperson of the Commission, Ms. Kathleen Addy called on the Ameer of the Ahmadiya Muslim Mission-Ghana, Maulvi Mohammed Bin Sahli in Accra.
The recent courtesy calls by the NCCE on relevant stakeholders have become necessary because the Commission wants to reach out to institutions that can help support civic education delivery and promote nation-building.
The Ameer Maulvi Bin Sahli and his team warmly received the NCCE delegation and tabled some proposals to revive civic awareness among citizens.
He gave the assurance that the Ahmadiya community will support the NCCE and described the visit by Ms. Addy as welcoming.
“We well receive NCCE for the patriotic gesture of meeting the Ahmadiya Muslim Mission for the purposes of interacting with us on issues pertaining to civics.
The Ahmadiya community is very patriotic because patriotism is part of our faith.
It makes us loyal to the State and assists the State to achieve national growth and development “, Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salhi said.
Ms. Kathleen Addy was elated about the warm reception and took the team through the mandate and operations of the Commission. She said the NCCE is mandated to nurture patriotic Ghanaian citizens and promote a civic culture among citizens.
“My visit here is to reignite and deepen our relationship as well as have a discussion for the common good of our nation. We are looking for new partners to promote a patriotic citizenry. When citizens are patriotic, they contribute to nation-building. We need the Ahmadiya Muslim community and other religious bodies to support the Commission on this national assignment and a constitutional obligation”, Ms. Addy added.
