Fear and panic have engulfed residents of Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital following the shortage of hand sanitizer and nose mask, items which are largely considered to help the prevention of the outbreak of the deadly disease (coronavirus) which has shaken the foundation of the world.
This came to light following an interview with operators of some drug shops and pharmacies in the regional capital.
Speaking with Roland Collins a pharmacist at one of the pharmacies in Koforidua, he lamented over the shortage of hand sanitizer due to the outbreak of the deadly disease (coronavirus) across the world.
He indicated that there is a high demand for hand sanitizer and nose mask with a corresponding marginal increase in prices since the outbreak of the disease; however, it is difficult to even get some of the products.
According to him, the liquid generally used to decrease infectious agents on the hands has suffered severe shortage, advising that, the public should avoid handshaking and also wash their hands regularly with alcohol solution in the absence of the hand sanitizer.
He, therefore, educates the public to avoid touching their nose, eye, ear and every part of their body and avoid inserting an object such as fingers and cotton bud and tissue into the ears.
The Pharmacist urged manufacturing companies who are responsible for hand sanitizer to produce more.
