The Eastern Regional Fire Officer (RFO), ACFOI Jennifer Naa Yarley Quaye, has inaugurate one hundred (100) fire volunteers mobilized from across Upper Manya Krobo district.
The Regional Fire Officer commended the volunteers for accepting to keep their communities safe from the ravages of fire and pledged the support of the Regional Command towards their activities.
ACFOI Jennifer Naa Yarley Quaye also lauded efforts of the District Fire Officer DO II Walter Drayi for the massive fire safety education which has yielded this results.
Statistics from the Eastern Regional Fire Service show that eleven bushfires were recorded out of the 23 fire outbreaks that occurred between the 1st and the 7th of January this year.
The fire volunteers are expected to assist farmers in particular in preparing their lands for cultivation to avert bushfires which is rampant in the area.
The District Chief Executive for Upper Manya Krobo, Hon. Joe Sam, the District Police Commander, Supt. Jeremiah Alale, Mr Kwesi Larweh, a representative of the Member of Parliament for the constituency, Mr Samuel Ekor, NADMO district director and Senior EMT Eric Opoku, the OIC for Ambulance Service in the district were some of the dignitaries that graced the occasion.
