Two people have been confirmed dead at Mankesim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central region.
The death occurred during the installation of a queen mother which turned violent.
The installation of a new queen mother for the area was met with resistance from a rival faction which saw seven others sustaining various injuries.
The incident has thrown the town into a state of a stampede with many fleeing to prevent further attacks.
More police personnel have since being deployed to the area to prevent further clashes which could lead to the destruction of property and even potential deaths.
Public Relations officer for the Central regional police command, Irene Oppong, said the Police Service has deployed personnel to the area to maintain calm and order.
She added that the five people who sustained injuries are currently on admission at a nearby hospital.
