After excelling as the Speaker of Ghana’s 8th Parliament, Alban Bagbin has been reelected to steer the affairs of the 9th Parliament.
This follows a bid by the majority members of Parliament led by the leader Dr Cassiel Ato Forson to the House for consideration.
President-elect John Dramani Mahama after a meeting with the majority caucus in Parliament urged them to support Mr Bagbin’s bid in a press statement issued.
The minority leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin seconded Mr. Bagbin’s bid and also nominated the current Speaker for the highest position of the House.
Due to no contention, the Clerk stood on his power and declared Alban Bagbin as the new Speaker for the 9th Parliament.
He was then sworn in by the Chief Justice to continue with the activities of the House ahead of the President-elect inauguration.
