Ahead of December 7th Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Ghana, candidates are expected to return to voters in Regions, Towns, and villages in the two weeks to canvas for a vote.
Political campaigns were suspended by Party leaders on 12th November 2020 due to the demise of former President Jerry John Rawlings.
Despite the suspension of the campaign, the most candidates were doing it secretly on grounds while others were on social media platforms.
President Nana Akufo-Addo also directed that all national flags should fly at half-mast for the next seven days in all parts of the country, with a declaration of seven days of national mourning from Friday, 13th November to Friday, 20th November.
Twelve (12) presidential candidates have been cleared to contest the 2020 general elections, the highest number since 1992.
In 1996, only three candidates were in the race, compared to eight each in 2008 and 2012 respectively.
In 2004, only four candidates were in the race, compared to seven each in 2016 2000 respectively and in 1992, five candidates contested the presidential seat.
