A trader at Clinic area, a community on Akyem Asuom in the Kwaebibirim district in the Eastern region has died after a concrete pillar fell on her.
Cecilia Amankwah, 47, was crushed to death by the concrete pillar while drying cloths on a drying line tied to the pillar.
She bled profusely from the nose and mouth.
Some children in the house raised an alarm which attracted the attention of neighbours in the community to the scene.
She was rushed to the hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
Saddened residents in the area blamed the poor job done by the mason for the incident.
According to them, the mason did not give the designed balcony concrete pillars a strong foundation hence were just seated on the surface of the land.
“The mason did a bad job. He didn’t create a firm foundation for the pillar so the pillar was virtual sitting on the surface and the weight of the cloth pulled it down crushing the woman” Assembly member for the area, Hon.K.Mamfred said.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue pending further investigation by Police.
The late Cecilia Amankwah who was cowhide meat and palm fruits trader left behind three children.
