A military officer was shocked when a car snatcher jumped into his car and absconded with it at Akyem New Tafo in the Eastern region.
Sargent Eric Okyere Agyapong a physical training instructor of Northern Command Headquarters now on attachment at the Army recruit training school Shai Hills reported to the New Tafo Akim Police about at about 1:40pm that he visited his wife and children at New Tafo but his car developed a mechanical fault.
He told the Police that, he went to a mechanic shop with his wife’s Hyundai Elantra saloon car with registration number ER 490 21 to look for a mechanic to work on his broken-down vehicle at home and in the process, a young man got into the car and speed off.
The military officer got a taxi and gave the car a hot chase but noticed it has been involved in an accident between Suhyen and Jumapo.
The suspect alleged to have Possessing some spiritual powers resisted arrest when police came to the scene.
It took the support of residents to help the police for many minutes before he was overpowered.
He was sent to the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters.
The Akyem Tafo District Police command quickly dispatched ASP Fred Kpetigo, Lance corporals Sarkodie Addo, Philip Babatu aboard Service car 4985 driven by constable Saviour King Adeti to regional police headquarters, Koforidua to bring the suspect.
The Police met the suspect in cuffs at the Regional MTTD charge office with a swollen face.
The suspect who was reluctant to speak only gave his name as Nana Agyemang.
He was brought to the Tafo Akim and sent to the New Tafo Akim Government Hospital where he was treated and discharged.
The suspect is in police custody for investigation while the stolen car which is partly damaged is at the regional police headquarters.
