The Odau Sub-division of Okyeman Kingdom
Odau is one of the two sub- divisions aside the main five divisions in Okyeman. The other sub- division known as Teikwa Subdivision is headed by the Akyeasehene.
It is imperative to note that Odauman which is also very integral to the Benkum Division was an independent state with over 10 towns and 25 villages before joining the Akyem Abuakwa State centuries ago.
Odauman’s appellation “Odau Nim Ako”stems from their fierce fighting prowess.
According to Odauman’s oral history, Odauman defeated Adanse in a warfare at the behest of the Asantehene. As tribute or honour to the Odauhene, the Asantehene offered his daughter in marriage to the Odauhene.
Odauman has its traditional headquarters at Etwereso in the Akyemmansa District with vast lands and shares border with Adansi in Ashanti Region and Assin in the Central Region.
Etwereso controls nearly half of the entire land area in the Akyemmansa District. Some communities of Odauman include Pramkese, Boadua, Osenase, Kwae, Aweam, Odumase, Adubiase, Chia, Subi ,Muronam and Banka.
