On Thursday, 20th August 2026, the Asuogyaman District Assembly, under the visionary leadership of Hon. Godwin Bobobee, District Chief Executive (DCE), officially commissioned a small-town water system to serve the people of Akwamufie.
The historic occasion was chaired by Nana Akonnor Bekai Ababio V, Osomanyawa and Senior Divisional Chief of Akwamu. Distinguished guests included Mr. Kwame Asaase, Head of Grants at the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), and Mr. Russell Grainger of Reach Beyond, a New Zealand-based NGO.
The event drew wide participation from the Chiefs and Queenmothers of the Akwamu Traditional Area, community leaders, Assembly members, and residents of Akwamufie, who gathered to celebrate this milestone.
The commissioning of the water system marks a significant step toward improving access to clean and safe drinking water, enhancing public health, and promoting socio-economic development in the community.
The Project was funded by The District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
