Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stepped up the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) campaign in the Akwatia Constituency ahead of Tuesday’s by-election, making a passionate appeal to voters to support the party’s parliamentary candidate, Solomon Kwame Asumadu.
“I urge you to support Solomon Kwame Asumadu so that together we can continue the good works and legacy of our beloved Ernest Kumi,” Dr. Bawumia said while addressing residents.
Dr. Bawumia attended the one-week observation of the late MP Ernest Kumi last Friday, and the by-election comes after his death. He and Mr. Asumadu returned to the constituency on Sunday, when they met with people and urged them to support the NPP’s candidate.
Prior to starting a community-to-community engagement to gather support, Dr. Bawumia and Mr. Asumadu made a courtesy call to the Kusiman Hene, Nana Ntiamoah Kusi Boadu, as part of his tour.
Additionally, he started his campaign by visiting churches and introducing Mr. Asumadu to the members, complimenting him on his leadership abilities and commitment to Akwatia’s growth.
Dr. Bawumia’s appearance and resolute statements of support are seen as a major boost to the NPP’s chances as the constituency prepares to cast its votes.
