The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has cancelled the subject results of 496 candidates and the entire results of 105 candidates who sat for the 2026 Basic
Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
According to WAEC, the sanctions were imposed due to various forms of examination malpractice detected during and after the conduct of the exams.
The Council noted that the affected candidates were found to have engaged in irregularities that breached examination regulations.
WAEC reiterated its commitment to upholding the integrity of its examinations and warned candidates, invigilators, and school authorities to adhere strictly to the rules governing its assessments.
The Council further assured the public that it will continue to implement stringent monitoring and evaluation measures to curb malpractice and maintain the credibility of its certification.
