A ten year (10) old boy, Kofi Antwi, has drowned in a swimming pool at Goaso, the regional capital of the Ahafo Region.
The Goaso District Police Commander, DSP Danso Abeam explained that the 80-year-old grandfather of the victim reported at the Police station that the boy at the blind side of the family visited Oyibo hotel where some people were having a pool party on Friday, January 1, 2021, in the evening and has allegedly drowned.
According to DSP Abeam, “when the people around saw the deceased they tried all means to save him but it was too late so they rushed him to the Goaso Government Hospital where he was pronounced dead”.
He said currently the body is deposited at the Goaso Government Hospital morgue for autopsy.
DSP Danso Abeam disclosed that the owner of the hotel was in Accra but the police have taken a statement of the caretaker of the hotel to help the police undertake the investigation process.
According to him, “Ghana Tourism Board also has the mandate to conduct its investigation as well. He said the police will passionately get involved after the autopsy is made available and there is a foul play so hopefully by Monday or Tuesday coming to the police will speak again”
