Western North Regional youth organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Awudu Lamin says that cocoa farmer’s in the region will progress only if the NPP government is voted out.
He emphasizes that the Produce Buying Company (PBC) in the North Region has collapsed because the NPP government has not handled the company well.
According to him, cocoa farmers have been cheated and starved of what they deserve.
Speaking on Accra Based-radio station, Mr Awudu stated fertilizers were given out for free under the then NDC administration but now it is being sold at Ghc80 in the tenure of the NPP.
He continued that during the NDC term in office Ghana managed to get 1 million metric tons of cocoa with its lowest being around 900,000 while under the NPP, the projections have reduced radically hovering around 700,000.
“Cocoa farmers will continue to suffer if the NPP government retains power for another four years,” he said.
