Residents in the Kwahu area in the Eastern Region are raging with anger over alleged brutalities by military personnel deployed to the area to enforce Covid-19 protocols.
The military unexpectedly carry out operation in towns in Kwahu East District, Kwahu South and Kwahu West Municipalities.
They mercilessly whip persons found not wearing nose masks either walking on the street or selling in shops.
“They once a while strike in town with canes. They mercilessly whip everyone either old or young without a nose mask,” a resident said.
Another said “it is so bad how they cane people. Last week, the military whipped some aged men and women they spotted not wearing nose mask. It was sad. We don’t know who is behind the military deployment. The government should call them to order. We don’t want a repetition of what happened to Major Adams Mahama.”
Mybrytfmonline.com. has gathered that the intermittent operations are carried out by military personnel stationed at Abetifi base for some years now undertaken operation against Fulani herdsmen in the Kwahu area.
They take indirect instructions from the Security councils of the three Municipalities to enforce Covid-19 protocols.
