The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect believed to be connected to multiple cases of rape, robbery and defilement in Okorase near Koforidua.
The suspect, identified as Isaac Anim was arrested at his hideout in Awukugua Akuapem on Friday, June 26, 2026 following what police described as a sustained intelligence-led operation conducted by the Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID).
According to the Police, investigations initially began on June 15, 2026, after a female victim reported that she had been assaulted, robbed and sexually assaulted at Okorase Junction 3 in Koforidua.
Police said the suspect allegedly stole the victim’s iPhone 11, US$200 and a pack of food before sexually assaulting her and escaping.
The Command disclosed that further investigations after the arrest linked the suspect to six additional cases involving robbery, rape and the alleged defilement of a 10-year-old girl within the Okorase area.
“The suspect has been handed over to the Eastern Regional DOVVSU for the continuation of investigations as additional six cases of robbery, rape and the defilement of a 10-year-old girl in Okorase have been linked to him,” the Police said in a statement.
A search conducted during the operation reportedly led to the recovery of a mobile phone allegedly stolen from the initial victim.
According to the Police, the suspect allegedly used the victim’s SIM card inserted in the phone to fraudulently withdraw money from a mobile money vendor.
“The Eastern Regional Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to protecting the lives and property of all citizens,” the statement added.
Investigations are ongoing.
