Habib Iddrisu, the deputy majority chief whip, has told the Ghanaian people that the Akufo-Addo administration is making every effort to ease the financial challenges they are experiencing.
He stated that other nations than Ghana are currently experiencing problems.
“I do agree that times are hard, but this government is working hard to resolve [the issues]. There is no country that is not facing economic challenges.
“Even the developed countries, the UK, the Prime Minister resigned because of the economic challenges, they can’t manage, the Finance Minister is gone,” he said on the New Day show with Johnnie Hughes on TV3 Tuesday, October 25.
The harsh circumstances Ghanaians are currently dealing with will end soon, according to Akufo-Addo.
He pleaded with Ghanaians to trust him to address the issues the nation was experiencing.
On October 23, as part of a three-day visit to the area, he made the following statement: “I know the hardships Ghanaians are suffering; I ask to you to have faith in me to tackle the challenges; this too shall pass.”
Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has stated that the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Ernest Addison, will be meeting with managing directors of banks and some currency traders as part of measures to address the difficulties.
