Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, on 17th December, 2025, chaired the sod-cutting ceremony for the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) project in Ho, known as the Oxygen City Project, officially marking the commencement of a transformative housing and urban infrastructure development in the Volta Region.
The TDC project in Ho is a comprehensive housing and urban development initiative aimed at addressing the region’s housing deficit, stimulating the local economy, and creating a modern, mixed-use community that enhances quality of life and attracts both domestic and international investment. The project is designed to combine residential development with supporting urban infrastructure, ensuring planned growth, improved mobility, and sustainable city expansion.
In his chairman’s address, Togbe Afede XIV emphasized that infrastructure development is a critical driver of sustainable economic growth, job creation, and social inclusion. He noted that well-planned road and urban infrastructure reduce transportation costs, improve access to markets and essential social services, and create an enabling environment for private sector participation.
“Infrastructure is not an end in itself; it is a means to economic opportunity, inclusion, and prosperity for our people,” Togbe stated.
He further underscored the importance of strong collaboration among government institutions, traditional authorities, contractors, development partners, and local communities, stressing that shared responsibility is essential to ensuring timely delivery, quality execution, and long-term maintenance of the project. He also called on residents to take ownership of the development and support its implementation to guarantee enduring benefits for current and future generations.
