Former Ghana youth star Ishmael Yartey says playing for the national team made him who he is now and for that matter, not giving up in his quest to play for the Black Stars.
Yartey currently plies his trade for Hetten FC in the Saudi Arabia Professional League.
According to him, he will not hesitate to don the national colours when given the opportunity under coach C.K Akonnor.
Speaking to Don Summer of Angel FM in Kumasi, he said, “If I have gained popularity in the country it is through the national team. So I’m grateful to the country for such an opportunity. If not the national team I don’t think I would have come this far”
“In fact, it was difficult to get a club abroad those times if you have not played for the national team”
“Now I can see I have more experience as compared to previous days. I’m still playing actively, so anytime the senior national team needs my service I will never falter to work for my country”
“Those who still follow me knows that I have become an improved version of the player I was. My speed and goal-scoring ability has also become better than it was before” he concluded
