Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo has defended her selection as Best Regional Minister at the 6th Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Awards, saying she believes her work earned her the recognition.
Speaking after receiving the award, Ocloo said she was not surprised by the honour because she is confident in the contributions she has made to the region.
“I wasn’t surprised of the award I received because sometimes I keep telling people that the little effort you do, when people recognize what you are doing and they give you that recognition, it empowers you to do more,” she said.
The minister stated that although there are still high expectations, she thinks the award was justified by her performance in government.
“For me, I know I’ve done a lot for the good people of Greater Accra. Yes, expectations are high though, but I think I’ve done a lot that I deserve that recognition and so to God be the glory,” she added on Asaase Breakfast Show.
After some detractors questioned her choice for the honor, she made these remarks.
The Labadi Beach Hotel hosted the event on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Government representatives, traditional leaders, and other interested parties gathered to honor ministers who, in the organizers’ opinion, had excelled in providing public services.
