An 18-year-old JHS graduate preparing to begin Senior High School has been seriously injured in an alleged cutlass attack at Koforidua Pipeline in the Eastern Region.
The victim, identified as Djaba, was reportedly attacked by a fellow youth popularly known as “Demon” following a heated argument after a football training session on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
According to an eyewitness, the two were among a group of young people engaged in a football debate when an argument reportedly broke out.
“Demon” allegedly pulled out a cutlass, chased Djaba to a nearby mango tree and slashed him around the waist, leaving him with a deep cut.
Another young man reportedly sustained minor cuts on his right hand while attempting to intervene.
The eyewitness said “Demon” had earlier threatened to beat the victim during the argument but those present did not expect the confrontation to escalate into a cutlass attack.
The suspect has reportedly fled the area and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Djaba has since been admitted to St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital in Koforidua for medical treatment.
The teenager had completed JHS and secured placement into a Senior High School and was preparing to report to school when the incident occurred.
