Former Minister of Education and running mate for National Democratic Party (NDC) Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has corrected the wrong impression created involving her inclusion in the Montie 3 story.
A petition to the Former President John Dramani Mahama from the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) signed by other hundreds of senior NDC members asking the then president to pardon the Montie Trio which he responded in 2016.
She has been criticised by some Ghanaians for being the one who called the Trio which attacked and threatened the judges since she was pronounced the running mate for the Flagbearer of the NDC.
According to her no one tempered with the legal system but rather allowed justice to prevail.
“We never went to the court not to obstruct justice but allowed the legal system to take its due course. We never interfered with the process and even our judicial system allows for remorseful suspects to be pardoned.
“Even recently a lot of prisoners have been pardoned by the President. Look at what is happening in this current government, they always shield wrongdoers and don’t even allow for prosecution as compared to our example,” she told the Kwabena Korankye on Cape Coast-based Live FM.
