Forty-five (45) House Officers at the Eastern Regional Hospital, Koforidua have undergone two-day training on non-Operative management of fractures using the POP application.
The training aims at equipping them with the requisite skills in handling different types of fractures by designing suitable casts / POP for affected clients, particularly during emergencies.
The training was under the sponsorship of the Management of the Eastern Regional Hospital, Koforidua (ERHK).
Management of the Hospital believes that the training will go a long way to enhance service delivery at the Facility.
Plaster of Paris (POP) casts are often applied in the Emergency Department as means of immobilizing fractures, pre-operative protection, and pain relief.
Application of POP is a procedure, often performed by nurses.
It is an extended clinical skill requiring sound knowledge, not only in the process of application, and limb positioning but also in the fundamentals of musculoskeletal physiology.
