Pupils of Sarkodee M/A Primary C School at Koforidua Old Estate in the Eastern region should prepare to study under a dilapidated death trap school building when school resumes this month.
The state of the school building is very bad as some parts of the roof have been destroyed with others left loose to fly in the air whenever there is a little wind blow.
The situation is a serious threat to both pupils and teachers with the hanging roofs likely to fall on them at any time, especially as we prepare to enter the rainy season.
A visit by the reporter to the school saw the loosely torn roofs also making noise which will adversely affect teaching and learning in the school.
Information gathered revealed the poor state of the roof has been in existence since the last term with authorities turning deaf ears to the plight of pupils and teachers.
Some parents and residents living close to the school in an interaction with the reporter expressed worry at the school’s current state and pleaded with the Assembly, the Member of Parliament, and other stakeholders to as a matter of urgency support the school to improve teaching and learning.
Sarkodie Basic School is located at Koforidua in the New Juaben South Municipality of the Eastern region.
