Asante Kotoko assistant coach Johnson Smith has explained Habib Mohammed’s early substitution in their clash against city rivals King Faisal.
The Porcupine Warriors inflicted a 1-0 defeat on the Isha Allah boys at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in an outstanding matchday 15 Ghana Premier League encounter. Naby Keita’s late goal settled the encounter on Wednesday.
Habib Mohammed was involved in a first-half bust-up with coach Johnson Smith after he was substituted on the 42nd minute.
The centre-back was incensed for the early substitution by coach Smith and confronted the trainer, demanding to be given an explanation for the early shower.
Mohammed was reported to have hurled abusive words on the former Karela United FC gaffer.
Explaining his early substitution, the former Karela United gaffer disclosed he was not impressed with his passes, hence the decision to sub him.
“His passes were slow, I played him in that position for us to hold them and know their tactics for us to plan for the second half of the game but it did not materialize,” he said.
Asante Kotoko have climmed to 4th position with 27 points after defeating King Faisal.
