NPP Flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s aide, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has called on Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo to think about resigning from her position due to her contentious public statements.
Linda Ocloo apologized in a statement on Wednesday, April 6, following criticism from the public for remarks implying that postings to northern Ghana would be interpreted as punishment.
The minister stated that the words, captured on a widely circulated video, were a “genuine slip in communication” and did not reflect her actual views or the policies governing postings in Ghana’s public sector.
While the Minister may have made contributions throughout her tenure, he stated on Breakfast Daily on Wednesday, May 6, that it might be time to “give way for others” who can bring a more cohesive approach to the position.
He cautioned against what he described as excessive media exposure and unguarded public utterances, arguing that public office demands a high degree of communication discipline.
“But if you choose to go the path on which she is doing, where she’s camera happy, she always wants to be in front of the camera, and she’s always making very loose talks all the time, it is not helpful”, he added.
Miracles emphasized that an apology alone is insufficient when public remarks cause criticism, arguing that leadership in public service must go beyond professions of remorse and demonstrate a deeper sense of accountability.
