Twelve Parliamentary Aspirants in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region are going unopposed while ten women are also in the race slated for June 20.
A total of 63 aspirants are contesting in 27 Constituencies in the Eastern Region.
Those cleared are Ms. Mercy Adu-Gyamfi, incumbent MP for Akwatia, Mrs. Abena Osei Asare, Deputy Minister of Finance and Incumbent MP for Atiwa East, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah Adjei, incumbent MP for Akuapim North, Mrs. Gifty Twum Ampofo, and incumbent MP for Abuakwa North and Deputy Minister for Education.
The rest are Ms. Gifty Klenam Kekeli, and former MP for Lower West Akim and former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Council (GIPC), Mrs. Joyce Opoku Boateng, a legal practitioner, for Nkawkaw constituency, Ms. Afua Kyerewa Nyantakyi, for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Ms. Josephine Awuku Ansa, and Ms. Adwoa Aseidua both contesting for the Ayensuano seat, Nana Serwa Acheampong, contesting in Abuakwa North.
Aspirants going unopposed are; Bryan Acheampong of Abetifi Constituency, Samuel Atta Kyea for Abuakua South, Kennedy Osei Nyarko for Akyem Swedru, Asiamah Agyei Dokua for Akuapim North, George Kwame Aboagye for Asene/Manso/Akroso, Abena Osei Asare for Atiwa East.
The rest are; Kwasi Amoako Atta for Atiwa West, Kwabena Amankwah Asiamah for Fanteakwa North, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah for Ofoase/Ayirebi, Joseph Tetteh for Upper Manya Krobo and Dan Kwaku Botwe for Okere Constituency.
