The State Housing Company (SHC) has said off-plan sales are a real estate sale strategy hence applying the same on sale of uncompleted affordable houses in Koforidua.
A statement issued by SHC Thursday, July 22, 2021, following publication by Mybrytfmonline.com on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, about the move to sell uncompleted statehouses in Koforidua – Effiduase to the public, the Business Development Department of State Housing Company Limited said it has” taken notice of a news item and some posts on social media relative to the announcement of the sales of one of our housing projects – Koforidua Housing Project – at Effiduase in the New Juaben North District Opposite the All Nations University College, Koforidua”
The statement added “We want to place it on record that as a standard practice, we start advertising sales of all our housing projects when construction commences. It defies logic and economic jurisprudence to wait for the completion of housing projects before putting them up for sale and the Koforidua Housing project is of no exception since SHC has to advertise the project to attract sales from the general public.”
That has been our strategy and standard practice, to sell all ongoing projects before their completion; and all previous projects across the country such as Club Court – North Kaneshie, Mallow Court Adenta, Urban Premier Court – Adenta, Legacy Court – Adenta, Executive Court – Adenta, John Agyekum Kufour Estate, Kumasi, Osabarima Kwesi Bumangama II Estate, Sefwi Wiawso, Mawule Court – Ho, Rock Estate Bolga among others were sold and still selling in the same manner”.
The statement concluded that “We have no intention to hoodwink the public, as our very survival depends on our Credibility and Quality of products.
We want to assure our clients, potential clients, and the general public that nothing untoward has happened and the project is ongoing while we pursue legitimate aggressive sales. We take this opportunity to again invite everyone to apply and own a house from State Housing Company Ltd”
The announcement by the SHC to put the uncompleted affordable housing projects in Koforidua on sale has been criticized given that none of the houses has been completed.
