Oti Boateng Senior High School (SHS) is gearing up to celebrate its 35th anniversary in November 2026, with a series of activities planned ahead of the main celebration.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Francis Kwame Terkpetey, said preparations were being undertaken on a monthly basis to make the anniversary meaningful and beneficial to the school and surrounding communities.
Speaking about the planned activities, Mr. Terkpetey said the school had embarked on a clean-up exercise covering the school premises, Zongo, Ada and other communities within its catchment area.
He explained that the exercise formed part of the school’s commitment to maintaining a clean environment while strengthening its relationship with neighbouring communities.
According to him, the school had also visited two orphanage homes, including Hour of Grace Orphanage Home at Huhuya and Hope Foundation in the New Juaben South Municipality, where staff and students undertook clean-up exercises and provided support to the facilities.
Mr. Terkpetey explained that the anniversary celebrations would not focus solely on the achievements of the school but would also provide an opportunity to reach out to and support vulnerable people in society.
He said the school had donated items, including rice, milk, cooking oil, water, soft drinks, clothing and other essential supplies to needy individuals as part of the anniversary activities.
He clarified that the items donated would be separate from the food provided to students under the government’s school feeding arrangements.
The Headmaster said the 35th anniversary would also provide an opportunity for the school to highlight some of the challenges confronting the institution, particularly the lack of a completed dining hall.

He appealed to the government to direct the contractor responsible for the dining hall project to return to the site and complete the facility.
Mr. Terkpetey also disclosed that the school was facing a shortage of chairs and had written to the government and other institutions for assistance.
He expressed appreciation to individuals, organisations and old students who had pledged their support towards the anniversary celebration, saying the school was hopeful that the commitments would be fulfilled to ensure a successful event.
He added that the old students had also expressed their commitment to undertaking a project for the school as part of the anniversary activities.
Mr. Terkpetey further disclosed that the school was planning to provide an insulator by November as part of efforts to improve conditions at the school.
He stressed that although the institution was preparing to celebrate 35 years of existence, it still required significant support to address its infrastructure and logistical challenges.
The Headmaster therefore appealed to the government, old students, corporate organisations, philanthropists and other stakeholders to support Oti Boateng SHS in improving its facilities and providing a better learning environment for students.
He said the school’s 35th anniversary should not only be a celebration of its achievements over the past 35 years but also an opportunity to mobilise resources for its future development.
