Plan by the Eastern Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, Kingston Okomeng Kissi to embark on a “One-man thanksgiving tour has sparked confusion in the party.
The itinerary for the said thanksgiving tour indicates that Regional Chairman will meet all 17 executives in each of the 33 constituencies, starting from 12 August to 14th August 2021.
The itinerary gave the heading “Regional Chairman’s Thanksgiving Tour” states, beneath the document, that the Regional Chairman will tour the region in the company of Madam Gifty Oware-Aboagye (Dept. Exe. Dir. NSS) and one Michael Bediako who is suspected to be Personal Aide to the Finance Minister of the Republic.
The planned tour is already creating apprehensions within the constituencies.
The regional Chairman Kingston Okomeng Kissi is already facing allegations of misappropriation of campaign cash for the Constituencies during the 2020 elections.

“His decision to embark upon a sole Regional tour is clearly an attempt to sidestep these accusations and possibly, blame it on some regional executives. In essence, this one-man tour is a charade and a face-saving gimmick intended to repair his already dented image and lost credibility.
This move by the regional chairman to have a one-man thanksgiving tour in the region when all the other 16 regional executives are available, heal and hearty, compromises the unity in the party and threatens its electoral fortunes” a worried Regional Executive who spoke under anonymity said.
Meanwhile, the rank and file as well as the base of the party have started campaigning for the Regional Secretary Jeff Konadu to oust the regional Chairman in the coming regional executive’s election next year.
Attempts to get a reaction from Kingston Okomeng Kissi, the Regional Chairman were not successful.
