Beneficiaries of Community Protection Assistant (CPA) module under the Youth Employment Authority (YEA) in Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region are wailing over 12 months unpaid Salaries.
The situation has afflicted hardship on the beneficiaries to the extent that they are unable to afford transportation fare to work forcing some to walk long distances daily .
The affected beneficiaries alleged ,they have impeccable evidence pointing to the fact that the monies have been disbursed but the District Coordinator has allegedly diverted the amount into his personal business awaiting to get returns before they are paid .
They appealed to President Akufo Addo to call the Coordinator to order to release the money for payment of their salary areas.
“we are using this medium to tell the president of the land his excellence Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo and YEA boss to ensure that our money is pay to them.A lot of efforts has been made through our district coordinator of NYA to make sure our back pay is paid to us but no avail.We have been told our money is been paid to us by the government but our YEA boss has decided not to release the money to us”.Kyei Collins ,a beneficiary told the media .
The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) was established under the Youth Employment Act 2015 (Act 887) to empower young people to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic and sustainable development of the nation. Its objective is to support the youth between the ages of 15 to 35 years through skills training and internship modules to transit from a situation of unemployment to that of employment.
