Richard Etornam Nyarko, popularly known as Commander Blibo, has been retained as the Eastern Regional Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after going unopposed in the party’s latest internal elections.
At the close of nominations on Thursday, October 7, 2026, no candidate had filed to contest the incumbent, paving the way for his retention in office.
Richard Nyarko is regarded as one of the prominent youth organisers within the NDC nationwide and has served the party at various levels for more than a decade.
His political journey began in 2009 when he served as a Branch Youth Organiser. In 2010, he became a Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) President before rising to become the Constituency Youth Organiser for New Juaben South in 2014.
He subsequently served as Deputy Eastern Regional Youth Organiser in 2018 and was elected Regional Youth Organiser in 2022.
Reflecting on his political journey, Richard Etornam Nyarko said his focus had been on building a stronger, more vibrant and united youth wing in the Eastern Region.
He said the support of constituency youth organizers and other party members enabled the youth wing to achieve what he described as significant results during the 2024 general elections.
According to him, the NDC recorded an unprecedented 48 percent presidential vote share in the Eastern Region, which he attributed partly to the collective efforts of the party’s youth structures.
Expressing gratitude to the NDC fraternity, Richard Nyarko said he was prepared to continue serving the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
“As we look into the future, I have decided to commit my service again to the party for the 2028 battle. I am mentally prepared, physically battle ready and politically willing to make a case once again,” he said.
He pledged to continue advocating for the welfare of constituency and branch youth organisers across the region.
He said he would work to ensure that youth organisers at the grassroots level received greater attention and opportunities, stressing the need for a system in which party members contribute and benefit collectively.
“To the many branch youth organisers, you are not invisible to me. I will continue to dedicate my time and efforts to argue for a good deal for you,” he said.
He acknowledged that achieving his vision would require sacrifices but said he was prepared to lead the process.
“I am not saying this is going to be easy, but someone must pay the price. Someone will have to go through the pain barrier and rip off the opportunities to affect all. A system where everyone contributes, and everyone is covered is what I stand for,” he added.
Richard Etornam Nyarko called for continued unity and commitment among the youth structures of the NDC as the party prepares for the 2028 elections.
