Security consultant Richard Kumadoe has urged newly sworn in deputy commissioners of the Electoral Commission to uphold professionalism, objectivity and transparency in the performance of their duties, stressing the need for public officials to discharge their responsibilities without fear or favour.
He said individuals appointed by the President must recognize the importance of their positions and demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, fairness and accountability in serving the country.
According to Mr. Kumadoe, appointments to public office come with a responsibility to work in the interest of the state rather than allow personal interests, political considerations or external influences to affect their decisions.
He emphasized that appointees must remain objective and professional in carrying out their mandates, adding that their conduct should reflect the principles and values expected of people entrusted with public responsibility.
Mr. Kumadoe further maintained that public officials must be prepared to take decisions based on facts and established procedures, ensuring that their actions promote fairness and strengthen public confidence in government institutions.
He also noted that Ghana was not the only country practicing democracy, urging the nation to draw lessons from the democratic experiences of other countries to improve governance and strengthen democratic accountability.
The security consultant stressed that the success of democratic governance depends partly on the willingness of public officials to respect established standards, perform their duties diligently and remain accountable for their actions.
Mr. Kumadoe made these remarks on Bryt Adekyee Mu Nsem, when discussing the appointment and swearing in of the two deputy commissioners and the importance of professionalism in public service.
