Asante Kotoko legend, Sarfo Gyamfi known in football circles as the ‘Black President’ has implored Asamoah Gyan to overlook foreign offers and join the porcupine warriors in the ongoing transfer window.
Gyan, who is the all-time top scorer for Ghana has made several public pronouncements about his willingness to feature for the record Ghana Premier League Champions and it is believed that contact has been made between the two.
However, according to reports in the local media, the former Sunderland forward has demanded $500,000 before putting pen to paper for the club which will possibly end the Kumasi based club interest in the player.
Speaking to Kumasi based Angel FM, Sarfo Gyamfi said, “So far as I’m concern, Gyan wants to play for Kotoko before he retires. In fact, I was the first person to approach him over a move to Kotoko before he received an offer from abroad. He was close to joining us during his stint with Liberty Professionals but it was unfortunate he left for abroad”
“I know there are offers from abroad for Gyan but a good name is better than riches. Gyan at this level must not be so keen about money because he has seen it all. I will be happy if he joins Kotoko for one or two seasons. I have not talked to him since I came to Ghana but I will find the time and meet him” he said.
