The Eastern Regional Hospital recently convened its inaugural staff durbar of the year, a gathering aimed at celebrating the invaluable contributions of its workforce to exemplary service delivery while deliberating on areas for enhancement in its capacity as a premier healthcare institution.
A highlight of the durbar was the presentation of the Best Worker Awards, recognizing the exceptional diligence and dedication of standout staff members.
Pharm. Michael Tornyi and Mr. David Danso were honored as the best workers for the third and fourth quarters of 2023, respectively. Both received accolades and monetary rewards for their remarkable contributions. For the overall best worker awards in 2023, Mr. Philemon Koranteng, a security officer, clinched the top spot, with Mr. Elikplim Ladzekpo, an Administrative Manager, and Mrs. Juliana Tetteh, a Physiotherapy Assistant, securing the first and second runner-up positions.
Each awardee was presented with plaques, with Mr. Koranteng receiving an additional reward of a 50″ AMCON LED smart TV, while the runners-up received refrigerators.
Dr. Arko Akoto-Ampaw, the Medical Director, expressed gratitude for the dedication of the hospital’s hardworking staff in delivering top-notch care to patients. “These awards serve as a morale booster and resonate with the Ghana Health Service’s ethos of acknowledging and appreciating committed employees,” he remarked.
In addition to the awards ceremony, the staff durbar addressed various critical issues such as staff healthcare, filling of vacancies, and Quality Assurance, underscoring the hospital’s commitment to maintaining high standards and prioritizing the welfare of both staff and patients.
Representatives from the Electricity Company of Ghana,were also in attendance, sharing insights on energy conservation both at home and in the workplace, reflecting the hospital’s dedication to environmental sustainability.
