A 47-year-old woman has been knockdown to death by a speeding vehicle at Suhum.
The deceased has been identified as Rabi Issif.
According to the Acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Sargeant Francis Gomado, the accident occurred Monday, July 20, 2020, at about 5:35am.
The driver Festus Ayete, 42, was driving a Nissan Hard Body Pick-Up with registration number GS 3452-19 from Accra towards Kumasi direction. On reaching a section of the road at the bottom of the overhead Bridge-Suhum, he knocked down a female pedestrian who was crossing the road from the nearside to the offside when facing Kumasi direction killing her instantly.
He said the body was removed and sent to Suhum Government hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy. Suspect driver in Police custody whilst accident vehicle impounded at the station for testing.
The suspect is also in Police Custody assisting the investigation.
