The Chief of Akyem Gyamasi, Barima Asare Tia II, has appealed to the District Chief Executive (DCE) to officially commission the newly completed community clinic while also calling for support to complete an ongoing Junior High School (JHS) project.
Speaking during this year’s Akyem Gyamasi Stool Festival, the chief said the community has successfully completed the construction of a clinic and appealed to the DCE to visit the community and officially open the facility so residents can begin accessing healthcare services.
Barima Asare Tia II also expressed concern over the lack of a JHS in the community. He explained that after completing Primary Six, children are forced to travel to neighboring towns to continue their education, a situation that causes anxiety for parents, especially during the rainy season.
He said construction of the community’s JHS has already started but has stalled due to inadequate funds. He therefore appealed to the government, corporate organizations, philanthropists, and other well-meaning individuals to support the completion of the school so children can continue their education in Akyem Gyamasi.
Also speaking at the festival, the Queen Mother of Akyem Gyamasi, Obaapanyin Akua Mpomaa III, appealed for more development projects in the community. She said farming is the main occupation of the people and called on the government and development partners to support the area with projects that will improve livelihoods.
She expressed hope that farmers would enjoy bumper harvests and that Akyem Gyamasi would continue to experience steady development for the benefit of its people.
